Smudging is an ancient and sacred ceremony
that involves burning
selected herbs or other materials in a manner that fills the home with the
fragrance of the smoke. Smudging is an effective way to clear negative
energy and create good FENG SHUI. Smudging is usually done by lighting the tip of the smudge stick with the flame of a candle, until the tip begins to smolder. One needs a container (bowl) for the smoldering smudge stick to keep the process safe. So it is best to perform this ceremony with full awareness and in a slow, mindful manner. Moving around, you can then guide the smoke coming from the smudge bowl to specific parts of your house, or parts of your body. Pick specific colors for each room carefully. Make conscious decisions not only about which color you paint the walls or choose for wallpaper, but also about the color of everything you put in the room, regardless of whether it's wood, ceramic, glass, metal, fabric or some other material. The best color for each room depends on:
Keep in mind that the walls don't necessarily need to be painted the best color in the list. For instance, if the best color is black, you probably don't want to have black walls since FENG SHUI is energized by light and black soaks up light. Instead, choose black furniture or black art accents for that particular room. For example, if the front door is in the south, it means that the living room, just inside the front door, is in the south. As such it is favored by colors of the red spectrum - which include everything from pink to burgundy - and greens and yellows. Avoid black and blue in that area of the house.
If a color isn't listed as a lucky color or one to avoid, it's effect will be neutral and it's okay to use. While it won't do anything to harm you, it also won't help you. There is a lot to say for decorating with your favorite color simply because it makes your smile. In those cases, experiment before your decide.
